All conveyance of passengers and luggage in Greenland is carried through according to the regulations ofconveyance of Disko Line A/S. The regulations are available at the Disko Line ticketing office in Ilulissat and aboard all ships belonging to Disko Line A/S.

As the regulations for ship/helicopter tickets and "Cruise and Hotel" travel in some cases are different from one another, the following regulations are separated in two heads a) Ship/helicopter tickets (transportation only) and b) "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

1.1 Purchase of ship/helicopter tickets and "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

1.1A Ship tickets (transportation only)

Tickets can be purchased until 16 pm the day before departure.  

'Late sales' (later than 16.00 pm the day before departure) of ship/helicopter tickets is possible for an extra fee (100 DKK). It is not possible to change or refund ‘late booking tickets’.

It is not possible to change or refund any ship transfer at a "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

2. Discounts, charges, method of payment, validity, delivery and refunds of  "Cruise and Hotel travel and ship/helicopter tickets

2.1A Prices, charges and discounts for ship/helicopter tickets (transportation only)


Pensioners + 65 years old: 50 %
Children 2-11 years old: 50 %
Infant < 2 years old and disability assistants, (max 1 assistant per ticket with reduction): 100 %

If you are travelling with an infant (< 2 years) , he or she is not guaranteed a separate seat, but will have to sit on parents’ lap.

If the passenger is found to board one of Disko Line's ships without a ticket or with an invalid ticket, he is subject to a penalty fare of DKK 500 per person before any further travel.

2.1B Prices, charges and discounts for purchasing "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

Children 2-11 years old: 40 % discount for ship transfer. When booking 1 adult and 1 child you will be assigned a double room at the hotel/hostel. When booking 2 adults and 1 child you will be assigned a double room with an extra bed if possible. 2 adults with 2 children will be assigned 2 double rooms.

Children < 2 years old: 100 % discount for ship transfer. When booking 2 adults and 1 child <2 years old you will not be charged extra - unless an extra bed is necessary. The child shares a bed with an adult.

2.2 Handling fees

Sales charges are not included in the price.

When purchasing a ticket online and purchasing a"Cruise and Hotel" travel there is a handling fee of 30,- DKK per ticket.
If you purchase your ticket as "late sale" (after 16.pm the weekday prior to departure) there is a handling fee of 100 DKK per ticket.

If you buy your ticket in one of our sales offices there is an extra handling fee.

2.3A Payment of online ship/helicopter tickets (transportation only)

Booking and payment of online tickets is made at Disko Line's website. If you purchase your tickets on the internet http://www.diskoline.gl/, reservation must be made for a fixed departure.
The ticket is only valid for the departure that is given at purchase.

After reservation and payment, your ticket will be shown on the screen ready for printing. As the ticket is delivered online immediately after payment, the agreement is considered accepted when the screen shows the confirmation of order and the ticket is shown ready for print on the screen. The online ticket MUST be printed out and brought with you on the ship or helicopter. The printed ticket is a valid proof of the payment for the specific departure.

It is also possible to buy your ticket on a mobile device without printing. You will need to show the ticket on screen, if this is not possible due to battery failure, you will not be able to board the ship/helicopter.

2.3B Payment of  "Cruise and Hotel" travel

Booking and payment of "Cruise and Hotel" travel is made at Disko Line's website. At purchase of tickets on the internet http://www.diskoline.gl/ reservation must be made for a fixed departure and accommodation at a specific hotel/hostel at a fixed date.

The deposit is stated per person and has to be paid at confirmation of booking. Balance has to be paid at least 60 days before departure. Reminder for due date will be send to given e-mail adress 65 days before departure.

The ship ticket is only valid for the departure that is given at purchase.
Voucher for hotel/hostel must be made for a fixed date and type of room. Upgrading of a room is only possible at direct enquiry at the reception on the day of arrival, provided there is vacancy. Upgrading is paid directly to the hotel/hostel. As the ticket is delivered online immediately after finale payment, the agreement is considered accepted when the screen shows the confirmation of order and the ticket is shown ready for print on your screen. The online ticket MUST be printed out and brought with you on the ship. The voucher for your hotel is to be shown at the reception at arrival at your hotel/hostel. The printed ticket/voucher is a valid proof of the payment for the specific departure/accommodation.

PLEASE NOTICE:

It is not possible to make a refund or change any ship/helicopter ticket from a Cruise and Hotel travel. 

2.4 Method of payment, use of Dankort, credit cards etc.

The data sent in relation with the purchase paid by credit card is encrypted (SSL), which means that it can only be seen by PBS and the payment gateway Quickpay. Nor Disko Line, nor any other, can see the data. The amount for the ticket is withdrawn from your account when the ticket is sent from Disko Line. The ticket is considered sent when it is shown on your screen ready for print.
It is not possible to withdraw a larger amount than the one you have accepted at purchase. In our online-shop you can pay by Dankort, Danish Master Card, foreign Master Card and VISA/VISA Electron.

Registration of personal information

In order to reserve and pay a ticket on Disko Line's website you must register at www.diskoline.gl with the following personal information: name (both first and last name), telephone number and e-mail address. No sensitive information will be registered in relation to the reservation and payment.  No information will be passed on to third part.

2.5 Validity of the ticket

A ticket does not give you the right to make a stop along the way on the route unless this is marked specifically on the ticket. All expenses related to a stop are on your own account.

A ship ticket to/from Narsarsuaq includes free bus service for passengers and luggage from the harbour to the airport. NOTICE: It is your own responsibility to handle your luggage. It is not possible to have your luggage checked all the way through. 

2.6 Delivery

The ticket is considered delivered when it is shown on your screen directly after purchase. Therefore you will not receive an actual physical ticket. You can re-create your ticket on our website. When you have purchased a ticket you will receive an e-mail as your receipt. This e-mail contains a link that leads to the site where you can make a re-issue of your ship ticket / hotel voucher.

2.7 Changes or cancellation of tickets:

2.7A Refunds of ship- or helicopter tickets (transportation only).

It is possible to REFUND a ship- or helicopter ticket online at www.diskoline.gl before 16:00 pm. the weekday before departure. There is a refunding fee.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REFUND OR CHANGE TICKETS AFTER THE GIVEN DEADLINES.

Charges for change or refunds of ship tickets (transportation only):
At refund of tickets there is a handling fee of 75, - DKK per ticket.

The credit card fee and booking fee will not be refunded. Lost or outdated tickets will not be refunded. “Late booking” ship tickets (purchased after 16:00 pm the weekday before departure) are non-refundable and cannot be changed. In case of a no-show on helicopter tickets, tax refunds are subject to a fee of DKK 75 per person. To qualify for a refund you must apply directly per e-mail to Disko Line A/S no later than 14 days after scheduled departure.The following information must be provided: name, ticket number, ticket order number and the account number, for which the money is to be transferred.

2.7.B Cancellation rules of "Cruise and Hotel" travel 

Those who cancel the trip more than 60 days prior to departure deposit will  be lost.

Those who cancel the trip between 59 and 45 days prior to departure will forfeit 75% of the total cost.

Those who cancel within 45 days of the departure date will forfeit the total cost of the trip.  

It is NOT possible to refund or change the "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

In case of cancellation of airplane tickets, please contact the Airline Company in charge.

Please allow up to 30 working days before cancellation is effectuated.

 

3. Conditions of conveyance for passengers

3.1 In general

The travelers are obliged to follow the instructions of the captain and the ship's deck officers.

Disko Line assumes no liability to the passenger neither prior boarding of the ship nor after disembarking the ship, unless the ticket involves transportation between ship and land or the transportation is carried out by a means of transport owned by Disko Line.

Weapons can be carried as luggage, but the cartridges are considered as dangerous goods and are not allowed. Furthermore the bottom piece must be removed prior to boarding. The weapon is to be handed to the crew and is handed out only at arrival to the destination.

The timetable is elaborated to transport passengers from A to B according to each vessel’s cruising speed. In the case of any irregularities, which will cause the use of other type of boats, Disko Line A/S reserves the right to modify these plans determined by, what is considered, to cause the least possible inconvenience to most of the passengers. Therefore stays of a certain duration cannot be guaranteed at the various destinations and Disko Line A / S assumes no liability to compensation when a stay is shortened in relation to the original schedule.

Malicious damage to the inventory of the shipping company will lead to a police notification and civil liability. Unbalanced or intoxicated persons can be denied conveyance even though they are in possession of a ticket.
Disko Line maintains its right to compensation for expenses in this connection.

Smoking is prohibited in all common rooms during the crossing. Smoking is allowed outdoors, but must not be a nuisance to other passengers. Violation of the smoking ban may lead to a fee of DKK 500, and if the crew's request is not followed, the passenger may be dropped off at the nearest port at the traveler’s own risk. Disko Line A / S is in this situation is not obliged to refund the passenger's ticket or other expenses involved.

The travelers may not offer any goods for sale, distribute any printed material or organize any collections, neither aboard the ships nor on land.

3.2. Transport of ill persons

For carriage of ill passengers the shipping company may demand a medical certificate, as well as an accompanying person for the ill person during the travel. Care for the sick or medical attention cannot take on the vessel. The shipping company does not undertake to embark or disembark sick passengers, unless the illness occurred during the voyage.

Wheelchair users must contact the company well in advance of the journey to get acquainted with the services provided while traveling. The crew of each ship will assist the users as far as possible in boarding and disembarkation.

Disko Line gives a discount to one disability assistant for weelchair users as well as blind people, if one is required during the journey, and documentation from 'Dansk Blindesamfund' is presented. The status of the companion must be stated on the ticket after the last name with the following words: Disability Assistant /(order no. for the disabled)

3.3 Conveyance of children

3.3A Unaccompanied children - Ships

Any person below the age of 12 is to be accompanied by an adult. The shipping company maintains its right to dismiss those unaccompanied, although a valid ticket is purchased.

3.3B Unaccompanied children - Helicopter

Flights for unaccompanied children cannot be purchased online, but only through our office in Ilulissat when travelling in Mid-Greenland and Diskobay. Travellers in South-Greenland must contact the office in Qaqortoq.

An unaccompanied child is defined as a child from the age of 5 up to and including 15 years of age who is travelling alone. Children under the age of 5 may not travel alone.

When purchasing a flight, you must state the name, address and telephone number of the person(s) accompanying the child to the point of departure and of the person(s) who will be collecting the child. The person who accompanies the child to the point of departure must remain at the airport/heliport until the aircraft/helicopter has taken off.

In the case of journeys which involve changing aircraft/helicopter, you must also state the name, address and telephone number of a contact in the town in question.

An additional charge of 250 DKK is imposed for unaccompanied children.

For reasons of safety, we can only carry a limited number of unaccompanied children per departure.

Information on contact persons, itinerary etc. for the unaccompanied child must be requested in writing to Disko Line more than 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure. Udfyld og indsend "Erklæring for uledsaget barn"

3.4 Check-in, delay and cancellation of ship- and helicopter service

3.4A Check-in at Disko Line's ships (transportation only)

Passengers must arrive at ship's side 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Check-in must be completed and the passenger’s luggage brought on board the ship at least 10 minutes prior to departure. In case the passenger fails to show up within this time limit and complete the check-in, Disko Line A/S maintains its right to consider the passenger a no-show and resell the seats to others without reimbursement. For passengers who fail to arrive in time and no-shows, tickets will not be refunded, according to our cancellation rules cf. 2.7.A

3.4B Check-in at the helicopter airport

Passengers must arrive at the airport prior to departure and check-in must be completed and the passenger's luggage brought on board the ship at least 60 minutes prior to departure. In case the passenger fails to comply with these time limits, Disko Line maintains its right to consider the passenger a 'no-show' and resell the ticket to others without reimbursement. Passengers who fail to arrive on time ('no-shows') are not entitled to board the aircraft. Furthermore tickets will not be refunded, according to cancellation rules cf 2.7A. 

3.4C Changes, cancellations or delays by Disko Line

General Rules:
In case of a delay or cancellation which occurs from the time the passengers have come on board the ship, or respectively checked in or boarded a helicopter, Disko Line covers the costs for accommodation, meals and transportation between the airport / heliport / port and hotel / accommodation, when necessary. For passengers with immediate access to private accommodation, accommodation by Disko Line is not considered necessary, however, Disko Line covers expenses for meals with 400, - DKK per day commenced. Disko Line does not cover any expenses for accommodation and meals for passengers whose residence is near to the destination of departure.

Rebooking:

In the event of irregularity Disko Line offers to rebook you from a cancelled helicopter trip to ship, in order to reach your destination as fast as possible. If you accept this offer, you will not obtain any compensation in case of a difference in price. 

In the event of irregularity Disko Line offers to rebook you from a cancelled ship to the next available helicopter departure. If you accept this offer, you will not be charged for any increased price.

In the event of a delay or postponement of a scheduled departure for a helicopter trip, the passenger must remain in the airport for a standby flight and be ready to leave on short notice. There will be no compensation for loss of earnings.

Disko Line recommend all travelers to effect an insurance to cover for delayed appearance e.g. with Gouda Insurance. 

Disko Line is not liable to pay compensation if the delay is due to force majeure events and events out of our control. 

The following regulations apply to passengers with proof of residence in Greenland:
If a Disko Line departure is cancelled or delayed, and the passengers for that reason have arrived at vain at the departure destinations: Nanortalik, Narsaq, Qaqortoq, Narsarsuaq, Ilulissat, Qasigiannguit, Aasiaat and Qeqertarsuaq, Disko Line will cover any possible expense for accommodation and meals, in accordance with the general rules until next possible departure. In case the delay or cancellation results in loss of onward connection or ticket from Disko Line's final destination, the Mittarfeqarfiit local staff will assist in contacting the issuer for the purpose of rebooking or purchase of a new ticket.

Any delay in flight arrivals to Aasiaat, Ilulissat, Narsarsuaq, Nuuk, Sisimiut and Maniitsoq, which causes the passengers to lose their onward connection with Disko Line, Disko Line will assist in rebooking ship / helicopter tickets to the next available departure on the same route as originally booked. Disko Lie will cover any possible expense for accommodation and meals, in accordance with the general rules until the passengers have arrived at their final destination with Disko Line.

Please note:

If a delay occurs, Disko Line will continuously inform passengers to the mobile phone number given at booking. Disko Line assumes no liability in case the mobile phone number is incorrect, out of service or out of reach. If you have purchased your ticket through an agency or an agent, the agent is responsible for stating a correct mobile phone number.

Disko Line reserves the right to cancel a transfer by ship or helicopter in case no passengeres are booked on a scheduled departure less than 48 hours prior to departure. In order to secure a confirmed booking, you need to book your ticket more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure.

Disko Line is not liable to pay compensation if the delay is due to force majeure events and events out of our control. 

3.4D Delay of a "Cruise and Hotel" travel

Disko Line assumes no liability to compensation for irregularities in the operation regarding connection to continuing flights, inbound as well as outbound flights. Disko Line recommends a minimum of 24 hours stay in Ilulissat before further transportation overseas. At delay during the "Cruise and Hotel" travel, expenses for an extra overnight stay will be covered by Disko Line. However, expenses for food will not be covered for.

Disko Line is not liable to pay compensation if continued conveyance is lost after the end of a "Cruise and Hotel" travel.

There will be no cover for loss of earnings.

Disko Line recommends all travelers to effect an insurance to cover for delayed appearance e.g. with Gouda Insurance.

Disko Line is not liable to pay compensation if the delay is due to force majeure events and events out of our control.

3.4E Cancellation of ship- and helicopter service

Disko Line reserves the right to cancel a transfer by ship or helicopter in case no passengeres are booked on a scheduled departure less than 48 hours prior to departure. In order to secure a confirmed booking, you need to book your ticket more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure.

3.5 Luggage /overweight,

3.5.A. Baggage Allowance / overweight Disko Line ships

Baggage allowance is 30 Kg per person when traveling by ship. There will be an extra charge for overweight:

Bicycle and baby carriage: There is a fee of DKK 100 each unit despite the distance. The fee is to be paid by direct inquiry to Disko Line in Ilulissat minimum 48 hours prior to departure. When bringing larger items like for instance a kayak, Disko Line must be contacted for this type of cargo and a consent from Disko Line is necessary. 

Luggage that is stored in the luggage space is deposited at the owners own risk.

Handling of luggage on and off board the ships is at the passengers own risk. The staff can not be expected to help handling the luggage on and off board the ships.

3.5.B Luggage/overweight, helicopter

Baggage allowance is 20 Kg. each person travelling by helicopter. There will be an extra charge for overweight: 39 DKK per kg - minimum 105 DK. Overweight can only be paid by creditcard and Akiliut, cash will not be accepted.

Disko Line reserves the right to deny any extra luggage. Extra luggage is considered lowest priority.

3.5.C Delayed baggage

Disko Line is liable to pay compensation for any delayed baggage. However we have limited liability, if the company has taken all measures that could reasonably be required to avoid the delay or that it was impossible to take such measures. The liability for baggage delay is limited to 1.131 SDR (1 SDR = app. 9 DKK).

In case of baggage delay, Disko Line is committed to compensate you with 500,-DKK per day, however maximum 3 days, maximum a total amount of 1.500,- DKK each. Disko Line follows the international legislation " The liability of the air carrier in case of destruction, loss, damage or delay of the baggage". The compensation is limited to the maximum amount of 1.131 SDR (Special Drawing Rights), for each passenger, corresponding to the amount of 9.530,- DKK. 

3.5.D Ruined, lost or damaged baggage

The amount of compensation for ruined, lost or damaged baggage is limited to 1.131 SDR (1 SDR = app. 9 DKK).Disko Line is obligated to pay compensation for checked baggage irrespective of the actual liability, unless the baggage was already damaged. Disko Line is only obliged to pay compensation for damage to baggage that is not checked (e.g. hand bagage), when Disko Line was negligent in connection with the damage.

In case of damaged baggage, Disko Line's or the airport staff will determine, on arrival, if the baggage can be repaired or if it is to be replaced.

If you travel with high value items you need to insure your high value items separately.

3.6 Lost items

Requests regarding lost items aboard the ships shall be made at the shipping company by phone at (+299) 94 53 00. Lost items will be kept for 1 month after which they will be given to the police. Expenses relating to forwarding of lost items are to be paid by the owner of the item.

3.7 Transportation of living animals

It is allowed to bring dogs and cats aboard the ship. However, they must be transported in an authorized cage. There is a fee of DKK 500 per dog and DKK 100 per cat despite the distance. (The fee is to be paid at boarding) Disko Line maintains its right to dismiss dogs and cats according to space available.

3.8 Complaints

Complaints regarding the routing are to be made directly to the management of the shipping company within 7 days. Complaints must be sent to info@diskoline.gl. You must report the damage of your items or goods immediately to one of the ship's officers or aircraft personnel before leaving the vessel or aircraft.

3.9 Reserves

Disko Line A/S retains the right to make changes in the provisions of conveyance, schedules, prices etc., according to the agreements in the contract of service concluded with the Greenlandic Home rule.

Disko Line A/S takes no right to indemnity for any disturbance of the services, for any flight connections or other means of transportation or for errors/omissions in the schedules or price lists.

3.10 Copyright

Disko Line A/S has copyright on all material that is being published on our website. The material may not be distributed or copied without our permission. It is permitted to link to information on our website. So called "deep links" are also permitted; you may contact info@diskoline.gl for direct links.

3.11 Liability

The information on the website is currently updated; however errors can appear. Disko Line is not responsible for any loss due to our information on our website, neither directly or indirectly. Links to or contents on a 3. party server are not the responsibility of Disko Line. Downloading of documents from the website of Disko Line is made at the users own risk. The above mentioned is valid unless the common Danish law predicts else way.

3.12 Accept
